3W light vs vl-5 is 5w light
The -2 is a 3W video light (had to dig hard to find that spec) - while the vl-5 is a full 5w light. The -2 does have a built in flash while the -5 is a light only but doesn't interfere with your camera's existing pop-up flash. More >>

Small and useful
Nice to have both flash and video light in the same product. Auto function is nice, so if you move into a dark area, the light kicks on and matches the field of view nicely. More >>
