I use it with my Dish Network ViP 622 HD DVR and it works flawlessly. The setup is easy. You tell Dish you want to activate and exernal drive and they charge you a one-time $40 fee that is transferrable. More >>

So, I've only had this for a few days, but it's great. I'm using it as the primary storage location for my photos with another hard drive as the backup, and it's doing the job wonderfully - the ~100gb of stuff copied over reasonably fast, and now that it's there, I can access and edit my photos with Lightroom as quickly as I could when they were on the internal hard drive. Hands down this unit reads all USB,Firewire, and the new eSATA speeds up to 3GB. This Western Digital is the only backup unit to have, and I'm have had many different brands of drives in the past and they have all ended in the trash can. More >>

I bought this to use on a 3-port Firewire card, mostly for video transfers from a camcorder connected to another port on the same card. More >>

I bought this to add additional capacity with my Dish Network DVR. I did have to make a call to Dish to figure out how to move/retrieve recordings from the DVR to the drive (Menu button/Media/Manage Device) but once that was accomplish it works great. More >>
