WARNING--Do NOT Format this!!
I put this card into my Canon EOS30D digital camera and, I always do when using a memory card for the first time, I formatted it using the camera's own formatting routine.

It's fast, it works.
It's fast, it works too. The problem with CompactFlash cards is larger and faster they go, more likely they are to have memory problems.
