Brittle Plastic
I'm working on a 6988 right now where the printer believes the lid is open. Pull the right side cover and found the brittle plastic lever that gets moved when closing the lid has broken.

Reasonable price. Easy setup. Still printing fine.
Black and Color ink together cost $40 to $50 and uses up ink pretty fast printing photos.

Terrible Quality with Mac
I have a relatively new Intel Mac (OSX 10.5.8) and the print quality from this thing is abysmal. It's light and very blurry, making any medium-sized text practically unreadable.
